Next Weekly Meeting:

The Importance of Recovery

October 30. 5:45 p.m.
Lapham Peak, Trecker Lodge

Guest Speaker: Izzy Seay

This week we have Izzy Seay who will be speaking to us about the importance of recovery in our ski routines.  Recovery is an important aspect to every training strategy and often overlooked.  As we age it becomes even more important that we are incorporating recovery strategies into your training plan.

More about Izzy

A Peak Nordic alum, Izzy Seay is currently the Assistant Coach for Ford Sayre’s Junior Nordic Team in Hanover, NH, and she also works with the club’s masters and youth programs. Izzy graduated from Colby College in Waterville, ME where she majored in Environmental Policy and Spanish and completed an honors thesis, An Endangered Sport: Examining Sentiments of Climate Anxiety Through the Perspectives of Cross Country Skiers. During her time at Colby College, she was a four-year member of the NCAA Division I Varsity Nordic Ski Team and the recipient of the Sonya Hall Award in 2023 and 2024 for her leadership as captain.

Next Week

Next week Dwight Sandvold will be discussing basic strength for the Nordic skier. Strength training is also an important aspect to Nordic skiing.  make sure to start incorporating a strength strategy into your training week each week. Preferably 2 shorter, 30 minute sessions, which will be easier to recover from than one larger harder session.

See you Wednesday!
